“If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
- Founding Father, Samuel Adams
WE MUST FIND AND RECRUIT CANDIDATES AND PARTY LEADERS WHO BELIEVE IN WHAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS TRULY ABOUT AND ARE NOT AFRAID TO CHALLENGE THOSE THAT CURRENTLY CONTROL THE PARTY AND SEEK TO CONTINUE TO CONTROL THE PARTY AND ESPOUSE IDEAS AND BELIEFS THAT REAL REPUBLICANS DO NOT BELIEVE REPRESENT THE PARTY
This is without a doubt the most difficult of my ideas to accomplish. Here’s why:
The Republican candidate I believe would best represent Real Republicans must be willing to face the withering attacks of the the Extreme Right which will include personal attacks not only on the candidate but family, friends, colleagues and supporters.
The candidate must be willing to stand for and support real Republican ideas and beliefs and be willing to call out those ideas and beliefs that are not truly Republican ideas and beliefs, are not supported by the vast majority of Real Republicans or the American people and which will invite the greatest outrage and backlash from the Extreme Right in the Party.
The candidate will have to be willing to reach out to a broad spectrum of voters, including Democrats and Independents and Republicans. I believe Independents hold the key to reviving the Republican Party because I believe a significant number of independents share many of the core Republican ideals and beliefs but need a Republican candidate that is not afraid to take on the Extreme Right within the Party in order to be trusted to represented those Independents, Democrats and those Real Republicans with those views.
This will require working within the Party to develop Party leadership that can and will support a candidate that will be willing to run on the real Republican ideals and beliefs, including opposing those currently espousing beliefs and ideals that are not the real ideals and beliefs that the Party should reflect.
Finding and convincing a potential candidate he or she can win. Although there are examples of independents, Democrats and Real Republicans trending away from the Extreme Right, the organizational and fund raising capabilities of the Extreme Right cannot be ignored or downplayed. I am not a political operative or campaign strategist, but I know what one looks like, and a critical component will be to retain qualified people to create the plans and the strategies to win. I don’t know about you, but I’m not jumping on a ship with no other course than crashing on the rocks.
This is an abbreviated and limited set of concepts I see as necessary to recruit candidates and party leadership and certainly much more qualified people than me would be able to create a much more focused and complete plan, but for now here are my ideas to revive the Party. I would be very interested to see your ideas and any recommendations you might have to support those ideas.
"We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate."

FIND THOSE WHO RECOGNIZE THE DEMISE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND SPREAD THE WORD OF THE REAL REPUBLICAN PARTY
These are my ideas on how to get those of us who want to be involved to actually get involved. It is more like a skeleton outline that needs to have meat put on the bones, but that is the extent of my capabilities.
In politics there is always this immediate thought to get a “grassroots” campaign started which brings in all the “stakeholders”. I have some background in grassroots and working with stakeholders. (In my view “grassroots” is a buzzword for getting as many people as you can get and ”stakeholders” is a fancy word for people and organizations who have a reason, financial, personal or otherwise, to be involved in an issue.) I do not see this situation in those terms and I don’t believe creating that type of campaign would be successful. There is obviously a situation arising out of our very complicated political situation in this country and specifically the factors that are driving and controlling the Republican Party. However, to me the current status of our political system is so much more.
First and foremost, a functional two party system is critical in my view to have a functional democracy in this country. In my view we have already lost that for the most part. Secondly, a major reason for that is we as Americans have lost our voice in this country, or at least believe we have lost that voice. I’m not talking about the people and the organizations whose extreme voices on all sides are dominating what seems like all news. I’m more concerned with what appears to be either an overwhelming fear to speak out or such a complete belief that our voices simply don’t matter that has allowed the “leadership” in the Republican Party in particular, but actually in the Country as a whole, to decide who we are as Americans and what we believe being an American really means to us. I don’t know what the answer to that question is and that is not what I am trying to address or why I created this site. This site is limited to how to fix the mess I believe is now the Republican Party and my honest belief is that if we as Real Republicans can revive the Republican Party and if we are able to do that the rest will take care of itself.
So lacking significant experience in developing a plan to find and reach out to those who agree with my thoughts and hopefully your thoughts about the Republican Party and how to spread the word to those people to get them to engage in fixing this mess, but having done some some basic research on how to do this, here are my ideas and proposals for pursuing people to get them engaged in this endeavor:
Identify and make contact with Real Republicans who feel the same way about the Republican Party and see if they are willing to step forward. It is my hope that these pages will create a desire and a motivation for Real Republicans to reach out with their thoughts and ideas.
Establish a way to connect with those who come forward and identify themselves as wishing to be engaged in this process and to voice their desire to see changes in the Republican Party and its leadership. I am not trained or educated in how to proceed with this but my thought is that a good beginning would be to create these pages, get others to provide their thoughts and ideas and finally get those of us willing to do that to recruit others within the Party to join in engaging in this effort to revive the Party in a away that truly reflects Real Republicans.
If enough people indicate a desire to get involved I would hope to begin to work with others to engage as many Real Republicans as possible and actually bring in professionals to create the mechanisms to allow us all to easily get engaged and to create a plan for going forward and in the best of all worlds begin to recruit and support not only Republican candidates, but also leadership within the Party to start promoting the beliefs, ideals and values of those of us who identify ourselves as Real Republicans.
