IT’S A MESS
AT THE AGE OF SIXTY-TWO I CREATED A BLOG. IF THIS DOESN’T TELL YOU WHERE WE ARE AS REPUBLICANS TODAY, I DON’T KNOW WHAT DOES.
I of course do not have the computer capabilities to create a blog, so in full disclosure, my daughter was the technical creator, but I did create all the content and you know this is true because she is thirty and I have two more daughters in their twenties, and they are all died in the wool liberals. Clearly the content is mine. Time For Real Republicans To Fix This Mess.com. This is self-promoting I guess but it is the point.
Being a Republican has become so painful and quite honestly embarrassing that I was compelled to create this blog in the hopes of finding out where the Republican Party really is. I see the polls; I hear the pundits and I see the supposedly ordinary republicans interviewed by broadcasters but just cannot accept that this is where we truly are. I know I can’t ignore the core Republicans and their cultish support of Donald Trump or all the other problems within the Party. I know that if I look in the mirror, I must admit that I just don’t want to accept this as the Republican Party and at my age I am too stubborn to accept what I hear daily. However, I don’t care who you support or why, you cannot deny the Republican Party is a mess.
None of the current candidates are someone I would want to support. The Republican “leadership” in Congress says and does anything it believes will get a Republican elected. The Party leadership is nonexistent except to follow the same path as the Concessional leadership and whichever way the wind blows.
It's not complicated, the Republican Party is a mess. It is recognizing this mess that has given me hope. As crazy as that sounds, maybe what this mess means is that there is an opening and an opportunity for the Republican Party to be revived. Maybe there are a whole lot more Republicans like me who are tired of being disgusted watching the mess that is the Republican Party. Lots of us have simply given up and left the Party. I am not willing to do that. I could spell out all that is wrong with the Republican Party but why waste the time when it parades itself right in front of us daily.
And so, as pathetic and borderline delusional as it may sound, I am going to place my faith and hope in the mess. Maybe from this mess comes rational thought and recognition that continuing this mess is going to lead to the complete collapse of the Republican Party. We are almost there now but just maybe identifying and focusing on what a complete mess this is will bring some rational thought and a rational approach to redefining the Republican Party and saving it from its own destruction.
