FLIGHT OR FIX TIME REPUBLICANS

It is time for Republicans to choose between Fleeing from the Party or Fixing the Party.

I recognize that given the current “leadership” of the Party and the cultish extremism that makes up 30% of the Party dictating the Party’s actions it became easier for many to flee the Party and many are continuing to flee the Party. It is difficult to remain a member of a Party that no longer represents your beliefs or ideals. The reality is the Republican Party no longer represents the beliefs or ideals of Americans: Republican, Democrat, Independent or otherwise. This fact in my mind leads to an even greater issue. The American people do not believe this Country is headed in the right direction and worse believe it is headed in the wrong direction. The foundation of this country is its institutions and those institutions function best under a strong two party system. This system no longer exists and that is not solely due to the disintegration of the Republican Party but due to the complete collapse of honest and genuine debate that may not lead to perfect solutions or policies but can at least lead to policies that can move the Country forward. The American people all want a government that actually gets something done. This in large part best comes from a strong two party system. Not perfect solutions and policies but at least solutions and policies that are truly thought out and debated. The collapse of the Real Republican Party has significantly contributed to and help cause the complete loss of a two party system. I do not mean there can be complete agreement or bipartisanship within our political system and it does not all rest on the collapse of the Republicans but a functioning two party system is essential to the Country’s democracy. With all of that said I began to think that my efforts in creating these pages is a waste of time and maybe I should just give up and flee. However, I guess getting older and watching my three daughters grow up and function in this country has made me more stubborn in my beliefs and I am not willing to give up. There is plenty of insanity going around but it occurred to me that I needed to really get an understanding of the collapse of the Republican Party. I am no genius or brilliant political mind but I tried to look at every angle of the what are the forces driving the Republican Party and there are far too many negative and warped forces steering the Party at this time to even begin to list or address. However, I believe what really is the core of the collapse of the Party is fairly simple. It is a complete lack of courage. The courage to simply say you are wrong, I don’t agree with your extremist beliefs and for Republicans to replace current “leadership” in the Party, in Congress and at every level with people with the courage to do so and to find existing politicians and new candidates who have the courage to say if want to primary me or otherwise challenge me on your beliefs, do it. I will stick with my beliefs and call on Republicans to rely o theirs and show the courage to stand up and vote for these beliefs and want leadership and representatives that reflect them and support them.

I created TIME FOR REAL REPUBLICANS TO FIX THIS MESS.COM with the hope that I could encourage Republicans like me to stand up and speak out. Candidly it hasn’t happened. The website got a good amount of initial hits but has fallen off and no one has really come on board to join in promoting the idea of reviving and reconstituting the Republican Party. I guess I could do what’s easy and just stand idly by and watch the collapse and ultimate death of the Republican Party but I’m not willing to do that. Plenty around me screams at me to just walk away but I’m not going to. I’m sixty-two and essentially retired and I plan to be around for a while and it is unacceptable for me to be a part of the current Republican Party. I won’t accept the cowards and frauds that “lead” the Party. It may be an exercise in futility but I’m not quitting it either. I hope some of you will sign on and maybe we get some semblance of a real Republican Party to raise its head. I choose to Fix not Flee.
